Suzhou River unveils new floating flower harbor at Shanghai International Flower Show

The 2026 Shanghai International Flower Show is underway, with Shanghai's Changning district hosting a themed exhibition. A highlight is the new floating flower harbor along the Huazheng waterfront walk, drawing visitors to explore and take photos.

The flower harbor is built on a 50-square-meter waterside platform and a 250-square-meter open theater near East China University of Political Science and Law. Using the concept "the pier carries emotions, not people," it features blue and purple hydrangeas, bird-of-paradise, bellflowers, azaleas, and roses arranged in a layered natural maze.

A corner of the harbor offers plant specimens and interactive displays. Seasonal plant samples allow visitors to closely observe details, adding an educational element and enhancing public connection with nature, while inviting exploration and appreciation of the waterfront greenery.

On opening day, local craftsman Xu Liheng led a science activity at the harbor. He explained plant and specimen knowledge and demonstrated specimen-making, allowing visitors to experience the process hands-on and learn about plants through interactive participation.

Changning Green Construction said it will continue creating quality landscapes and educational activities, offering immersive green spaces for the public and supporting the ongoing development of Changning as a park-focused urban area.
