Diverse cultural, commercial offerings ready for May Day holiday in Shanghai's Jing'an district

As the May Day holiday approaches, Shanghai's Jing'an district has geared up for a variety of events and promotions in its core commercial areas to attract consumers.

The May Day holiday, which runs from May 1 to 5, coincides with the launch of the 7th edition of the 7th Double Five Shopping Festival. From debuts of trendy products and pop-up IP events to light shows and flower exhibitions, the festive atmosphere is now at its peak in the district's core shopping areas – Nanjing West Road, Suhewan, and Daning.

Additional incentives include gift-with-purchase offers, cashback vouchers, and group buying discounts, covering everything from luxury goods and everyday essentials to global cuisine and cultural experiences, ensuring a joyful holiday itinerary.

In the Nanjing West Road shopping area, Zhang Yuan will be holding the Celine "Summer Pop-up" through May 10, featuring personalized onsite services offered globally for the first time. Jiuguang Department Store is hosting the world's first "Anpanman"-themed pop-up store until May 24. Jing'an Kerry Centre will hold China's first MONOCLE pop-up shop until June 30.

Suhewan commercial area is holding the 2026 Jing'an International Flower Show at Suhewan Central Green Space until May 10, along with the "I've always Loved Baking" bread festival at Suhewan MixC World from May 1 to 3, showcasing over 80 bread brands.

In Daning commercial area, the Daning International Business Plaza will be presenting a vintage musical, traditional hairpin dance, and theatrical parades on May 1, 2, and 4. Meanwhile, the Shanghai Jiuguang Center will hold the national debut of the Chibi Maruko-chan Fantasy Park on May 1.
