Chenshan Botanical Garden sets new single-day record with 75,508 visits

Chenshan Botanical Garden received 163,500 visits during the Qingming holiday, with 75,508 on April 5, breaking the garden's single-day record, surpassing the previous high of 72,775 from 2016.

The garden's peak season coincided with the blooming of cherry blossoms, peach flowers, and peonies. Special events under the theme "Songjiang, Beautiful Because of You" attracted large crowds by artfully blending nature, culture, and art.

Yoshino cherry trees were in full bloom, creating a beautiful cherry blossom snow scene. Families flocked to enjoy the springtime beauty, setting up tents beneath the trees for a truly memorable outing.

To help manage the crowds, the garden launched a cherry blossom record keeper volunteer service, offering free photography services, tips on optimal angles, and guidance on lighting settings to improve visitors' experience.

Volunteers from the Songjiang photographers' association played a key role, helping visitors find the best spots and lighting for photos while also assisting with crowd control during the busy cherry blossom season.

Ms Zhou, a tourist from Changzhou shared, "The volunteers helped us take many photos and showed me how to use backlighting to make the petals look translucent — what a wonderful experience!"

Although Yoshino cherry blossoms are nearing their end, late-blooming cherry trees and peonies continue to bloom, offering visitors a quieter, more relaxed experience after the holiday rush.
