Changning strengthens Hongqiao Intl CBD's growth
The Shanghai Municipal People's Government held a news conference on March 23 to mark the fifth anniversary of the Hongqiao International Opening-up Hub, during which officials from Changning, Minhang, and other Shanghai districts shared insights into the districts' progress and future goals.
Over the past five years, Changning has focused on establishing the "Most Hongqiao" brand and positioning itself as Hongqiao's eastern engine. The district's GDP grew by 7 percent annually, the highest in the city, driving substantial economic development.
Changning has also bolstered its soft power by enhancing international business services and creating the Hongqiao Enterprise Overseas Headquarters, with more than 60 service providers helping local companies expand globally. Chagee, for instance, now has nearly 300 stores worldwide.
With its lively international community, featuring numerous foreign consulates and multinational firms, Changning has become a significant business hub, attracting investments and fostering global connections.
Changning plans to further strengthen its economic and open-door capabilities during the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30), aiming to enhance its role as the eastern engine of Hongqiao, attract more high-level foreign investment, and promote innovation and global business expansion.
