As the Chinese New Year approaches, the Exit-Entry Administration of Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau in Fengxian district hosted the "One World, One Spring" event, offering foreign residents an immersive experience in traditional Chinese culture to celebrate the Year of the Horse.

The venue, adorned with red lanterns and "Fu" characters, radiated festive cheer. Local snacks like malt milk and butterfly crisps were served, while guests — many dressed in traditional Chinese attire — celebrated together. The event fostered cultural exchange and discussions about hopes for the new year.

The gathering began with a visual introduction to Chinese New Year customs, followed by an engaging lesson on basic Chinese New Year greetings. International residents, some of whom had lived in Fengxian for several years, shared their personal experiences. One participant from Iran said, "In my country, New Year also involves special foods that start with the letter 'S'".

A key highlight was the hands-on session where guests made glutinous rice balls (tangyuan). Although many were trying it for the first time, they quickly mastered the technique, enjoying the process and the sense of accomplishment.

Since last year, the Entry-Exit Bureau Fengxian Branch Shanghai has been organizing similar activities during major festivals to help international residents better understand Chinese culture and foster a stronger sense of community.
