Minhang posts solid economic, social gains in 2025

Shanghai's Minhang district experienced steady economic growth in 2025. Its GDP is projected to increase by about 5 percent year-on-year, reaffirming its strength as Shanghai's second-largest economic engine, according to the district government work report, dated Jan 13.
The district's general public budget revenue reached 35.09 billion yuan ($5.09 billion). Residents' per capita disposable income is expected to hit 96,200 yuan, marking a 3.8 percent year-on-year increase.
Minhang district strengthened its appeal as a corporate hub, with the total number of established headquarters enterprises reaching 300. The district also fostered innovation by inaugurating the National University Science Parks of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and East China Normal University, which have so far incubated and attracted a total of 163 alumni enterprises.
Notable progress has been achieved in environmental conservation, with over 92 percent of the district's rivers and lakes meeting Grade III water quality standards. The district is now home to 230 parks and has added 60 hectares of green space, 7 kilometers of greenways, and 10,000 square meters of vertical greening.
The district has made solid advancements in advancing people's wellbeing. It has built five comprehensive community senior care centers, two community canteens for the elderly, and five neighborhood elderly care service stations.
In the education sector, construction has begun on four new schools and five have been completed. Fourteen high-quality kindergartens have also been developed and 14 baby care centers have been upgraded. In terms of infrastructure, the district has upgraded 54,000 sq m of pedestrian walkways, added 1,151 new parking spaces, as well as installed 6,717 public charging stations for new energy vehicles.
