Freshippo launches largest aquatic live storage facility in Baoshan

Freshippo's newly built aquatic live storage and holding facility in Shanghai's Baoshan district has officially commenced operations. This over-10,000-square-meter warehouse represents Freshippo's largest such facility to date. It is set to significantly enhance the supply efficiency of aquatic products for the brand's stores across Shanghai and neighboring cities, ensuring stable provisions for the upcoming Chinese New Year holiday.

A key feature of this facility is the debut of Freshippo's self-developed water control system. This system allows for the simultaneous temporary rearing of more than 70 species of aquatic products across six temperature layers — from deep-sea king crabs to tropical grouper and black tiger prawns.

According to Freshippo's aquatic logistics lead, the rapidly growing consumer demand necessitated this scalable supply chain solution. The water control system automates the control of water temperature and salinity, reducing reliance on manual expertise and establishing a standardized, visual workflow. Preliminary tests indicate the system boosts staff efficiency at the facility by over 60 percent.

The system enables the real-time monitoring of water levels, temperature, salinity, energy consumption, and vehicle status. It maintains a temperature deviation of less than 1 degree Celsius throughout the entire process from intake to store delivery, minimizing stress on the live seafood, reducing loss, and improving overall supply chain efficiency.
