Hundreds greet first day of 2026 with riverside run in Shanghai's Baoshan

As a main venue for Shanghai's 2026 New Year celebrations, Baoshan district welcomed the first day of the year with energy and community spirit. On the morning of Jan 1, the Changtan New Year's run commenced at Sunrise Square in Wusong Paotaiwan Park, featuring a 10-kilometer route with 100 participants.

Despite a sharp drop in temperature at 6:30 am, the runners gathered early with unwavering enthusiasm. At 7:00 am sharp, the starting pistol fired, sending participants sprinting from the line. Along the course, multiple aid stations were staffed by smiling, uniformly dressed volunteers who provided water, snacks, and heartfelt New Year's greetings.

The route wove its way through iconic Baoshan landmarks, including the Shanghai Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal, and the Changtan Observation Tower.
