Shanghai's North Bund subdistrict has launched an enhanced version of its Zhapu Road food guide, transforming it from a simple dining list into a comprehensive exploration of local life, culture, and services.

Now available in English, the guide invites global visitors to experience the authentic charm of old Shanghai through its flavors and streets.

The updated guide turns the Zhapu-Kunshan Road area into a vibrant map, highlighting not only classic noodle shops and pan-fried bun stalls but also historic alleyways, cultural landmarks, and local artisans. It offers a full day immersed in the everyday rhythms of Shanghai.

A curated 30-minute walking route takes visitors from traditional eel noodles to Western-style baked rice, photo spots in century-old villas, and delicate soup buns, revealing layers of local culture at each stop.

Once a simple paper guide, the new edition now serves as a community connector linking shops, residents, and travelers.

The upcoming 3.0 version will delve deeper with stories behind storefronts, like the Fuhe Noodle Shop's journey from a lane-side stall to a modest chain, while maintaining its tradition of fresh broth.

Interactive features, such as historical notes and ideal photo times, will enrich every visit. Additionally, a pilot points program allows spending at participating shops to earn credits for rewards like riverside viewing seats or craft workshops, fostering stronger ties between businesses, visitors, and the community.
