Work progresses on Package A of Etihad Rail Project

China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) entered the UAE market in 2003 and established CSCEC Middle East in Dubai in 2005. Having been deeply rooted in the UAE for over 20 years and thoroughly involved and served the economic and social development in the UAE, CSCEC has always been a firm participant, active contributor, and common beneficiary in the development of China-UAE relations.

Over the past 20 years, CSCEC has signed contracts totaling $19.3 billion in the Middle East and completed revenue of $11.2 billion, becoming one of the largest international contractors in the Middle East.

The company has undertaken over 120 projects in the region, including residential buildings, hotels, hospitals, offices, roads, bridges, and airports, with operations across the UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.

Under the Up We Build program, a sustainable development initiative led by CSCEC, the company has adhered to localized operations and prioritized the use of local suppliers. Over 70 percent of its staff are the locals of UAE. In addition, CSCEC has maintained cooperation with nearly 3,300 UAE enterprises and provided 350,000 job opportunities. The labor management work has been recognized by the local government and has won the "Taqdeer Labor Award" two years in a row. Meanwhile, based on its excellent performance in the Middle East market, its subsidiary, CSCEC Middle East, has won the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award for two consecutive years as well as the Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award.

Work progresses on Package A of Etihad Rail Project

The company has constructed many landmark projects for the UAE government and clients, earning a strong reputation in the local market and establishing CSCEC as a renowned brand in the Middle East.

They have built over 14 star-rated hotels with over 4,000 rooms, 3,000+ villas, more than 16,000 apartments, 600 kilometers of roads, 105 bridges and 139 kilometers of railways, 28 kilometers of tunnels, creating a series of landmark projects such as Zayed International Airport (known as Abu Dhabi International Airport Terminal A), Dubai Expo Village, and Etihad Railway Package 2A.

In Dubai, for every 34 people, one lives in a house built by CSCEC Middle East.

The Palm Jumeirah, Villas-Garden Homes Project was praised by UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai HH Sheikh Mohammed as "a great job".

CSCEC ME and El Seif JV jointly complete the 6,800-cubic-meter top-slabs concrete pouring of Diriyah Gate Infrastructure Area B Project all at once within 48 hours.

Etihad Railway Package 2A Project is the first railway project undertaken by CSCEC in the Middle East region. Since its commencement, the Project has performed outstandingly in safety, quality, and progress management, consistently ranking first in the comprehensive evaluation among all packages in Etihad Rail Stage 2 and has been highly praised by the Employer and Stakeholders as the benchmark project. The smooth delivery of the Project showcases China's speed and spirit. The project team has opened up a green "artery" in the heart of the desert through high-quality "smart construction" and the consistent pursuit of the "green development" concept, achieving a win-win situation for regional economic development and environmental protection.

On November 1st, 2023, the Zayed International Airport - Terminal A (known as Abu Dhabi Airport Terminal A) was officially operational. The steel structure construction of the project designed with a unique shape X, is described as a complex structure with high construction difficulty. As one of the few companies with the ability to build complex projects, CSCEC Middle East stood out from its international competitors and took on three important packages of steel structure construction, MEP installation and several airport roads construction, making it the most comprehensive international contractor involved in the widest range of construction works for Terminal A and the heaviest task to be undertaken by the company.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the UAE. With the corporate mission of "Expanding a Happy Living Environment", CSCEC Middle East has been actively shouldering corporate social responsibilities. It has won the Arabia CSR & Sustainability Awards for four consecutive years, recognized as the most credible corporate social responsibility award in the Middle East and North Africa, receiving high recognition from local authorities.

Over the past eight years, CSCEC Middle East has cooperated with regional government units, well-known clients, important partners, financial institutions, and university think tanks in the Middle East to hold annual technology conferences. It has grown from an internal technical meeting into a key platform for knowledge exchange in the Gulf region's construction industry.
