A nine-member delegation from ETH Zurich's Entrepreneurship Club visited Xi’an Jiaotong University from October 19 to 20, focusing on scientific innovation, youth entrepreneurship, AI, and Sino-Swiss collaboration.

On October 19, the delegation toured the China Western Science and Technology Innovation Harbor, visiting the digital exhibition hall, rooftop garden, Institute of Embodied Intelligence, and the College of Outstanding Engineers. They gained insights into the university’s efforts in AI, industry-education integration, and international education.

At the Institute of Embodied Intelligence, the delegation observed intelligent robots, highlighting the university’s research advancements and potential practical applications. They also experienced VR-enabled digital engineering teaching.

In the afternoon, the group explored the university’s employment and entrepreneurship platforms and joined a Sino-Swiss youth exchange salon. Students from both countries discussed innovative projects, technology R&D, and strategies for market expansion, exchanging views on commercializing research and fostering long-term collaborations.

On October 20, the delegation visited BYD’s High-tech Zone plant to learn about China’s new energy vehicle industry. They were briefed on technological breakthroughs in flash charging and battery R&D and test-drove BYD’s new models. The visit concluded with a tour of the Westward Migration Museum, where they learned about the university’s history and contributions to national development in western China.

This visit offered Swiss entrepreneurs a comprehensive view of Xi’an’s scientific and industrial landscape, paving the way for stronger ties between European innovation initiatives and China’s research resources. Both sides anticipate further exchanges to boost Sino-Swiss and China-EU cooperation in science and technology innovation.
