On October 15, an international forum in Xi’an focused on engineering and technical standards for transport infrastructure between China and Central Asia, aiming to boost regional connectivity. This event is part of the 2026 China-Central Asia Sci-Tech and Cultural Exchange Series, organized by Chang’an University and the China-Central Asia Talent Training Alliance for Transport Infrastructure.

The forum gathered government officials, academics, and business representatives from China and Central Asia to discuss cooperation on transport standards and talent development. Li Shutao, president of Chang’an University, presided over the opening ceremony, where the Central Asia Youth Talent Empowerment Plan for Infrastructure Construction Version 2.0 (2026–2030) was launched. This initiative aims to enhance talent training, research collaboration, and technology transfer in transport infrastructure.

Fan Wen, vice-president of Chang’an University, chaired the afternoon session, with Shi Feng, the university’s Party secretary, emphasizing the importance of mutual learning and technical standard recognition for regional connectivity. Key speakers included Adilet Kudaibergenov from the China-Central Asia Mechanism Secretariat and Almaz Shananov, Kyrgyz MP, who stressed the importance of aligning transport infrastructure standards for regional development.
A signing ceremony marked a new partnership between Chang’an University and China Construction Eighth Engineering Bureau for overseas talent training, supporting Chinese transport standards globally.

The forum featured presentations on green construction, road engineering technologies, and talent training by experts like Liu Jiaping from Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology. These discussions highlighted progress and cooperation prospects in transport technical standards.
Since its founding in 2023, the alliance has hosted four forums, fostering dialogue on transport standards between China and Central Asia. The event promotes infrastructure connectivity, technical standard alignment, and talent exchanges, strengthening China-Central Asia ties.
