On the afternoon of May 27, a delegation of 16 young scholars from high-end think tanks in 11 Latin American and Caribbean countries visited the Wuhan Institute of New Energy, located in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC) and held discussions with representatives from local enterprises, seeking cooperation opportunities.

During the discussion session, Ambassador Liang Yu from the American and Caribbean affairs department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Chinese government seeks to reach peak carbon emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.

"Today's visit was very impressive. I saw many advanced technologies from new energy companies and witnessed China's determination and capability in responding to environmental changes. China is willing to share development opportunities with countries around the world," Liang added.
