As one of the six emerging industries in Wuhan, artificial intelligence (AI) is poised to lead the city's future as a heavyweight core technology.

Experts believe that Wuhan has created a relatively complete AI industrial chain and is set to play a significant role in domestic AI development. By leveraging its mature advanced manufacturing industries, Wuhan is set to take the lead in enhancing large-scale models.

"It is expected that by 2025, Wuhan's total computing power scale may exceed 5,000 petaflops," said Tan Min, a professor-level senior engineer at the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT). The development pattern of domestic AI is closely related to the level of development in a city's digital economy. Currently, major cities in China are vigorously developing their computing power and other infrastructure.

At present, Wuhan is at the forefront of computing power deployment nationwide. The Wuhan AI Research Institute and the Wuhan Supercomputing Center have been brought together to form the country's first diverse cloud service computing cluster that integrates AI and supercomputing.

Specifically, companies such as Wuhan Yangtze Technology Co and HGTECH are capable of providing a series of relatively complete solutions for the artificial intelligence industry chain. Both of them are located in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC).
