On March 19, construction on the first phase of the HGTECH Optoelectronic Information Research and Innovation Park commenced in Wuhan New City.

This project is one of the 10 major projects along the central axis of Wuhan New City. It primarily involves the construction of HGTECH's headquarters, a research institute, and a pilot plant. The project's total construction area is approximately 215,000 square meters, with the first phase covering an area of 82,500 sq m.

It will be used for the research and production of silicon photonic modules, next-generation optical modules, vehicle-mounted super gateways, and mobile energy storage products, with an expected completion date in 2025.

HGTECH is located in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as the Optics Valley of China, or OVC), and is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. It has achieved over 60 technological breakthroughs in its field, and received three national scientific and technological progress awards.

Ma Xinqiang, HGTECH's chairman, stated that thanks to progress in computing-network convergence and AI-driven large models, the optoelectronic industry, especially the optical communication sector, is entering a crucial decade of innovation breakthroughs.

The construction of this project will solidify HGTECH's core competitiveness in the optical communication business and elevate the modernization level of the optoelectronic information industrial chain in OVC.
