The East Lake High-tech Development Zone, which is also known as Optics Valley of China, is home to a group of 16 State-level industrial bases, such as the optoelectronic industry base, the biological industry base -- Biolake -- and the geo-spatial information industry base.

It is accelerating its development of emerging sectors and has formed an industrial hub that features optoelectronic information, bioindustries, energy conservation & environmental protection, high-end equipment manufacturing and high-tech service industries.

According to a report in the Hubei Daily, as of August 2019 Optics Valley was the largest fiber optic cable research base in the world. Its production and sales of optical fiber and optical cable occupy 66 percent of the domestic market and 25 percent of the international market. In addition, its sales volumes of optical fiber and optical cable ranks first in the world.

It is the largest R & D and production base for optical devices in China, with a domestic market share of 60 percent and an international market share of 12 percent.

And it is also the largest laser industry base in China. Its market share in that sector in China has exceeded 50 percent for 11 consecutive years.

During the first quarter this year, Wuhan Huagong Genuine Optics Co, a key subsidiary of HG Tech, announced that its 400G optical model products had been allowed into markets in North America, Europe, and other regions and countries. The products' output has reached 30 million, making the firm one of the world's biggest optical model manufacturers.
