Wuhan hosts sci-tech innovation convention

The Wuhan Sci-tech Innovation Conference took place in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, on Feb 20.
The meeting was attended by You Zheng, president of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wang Yanxin, president of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), and academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, including Xie Xianqi, Liu Sheng, Chen Xuedong, Zhang Xianlong, and Ni Sidao.
At the conference, it was emphasized that new industries, business models, and development momentums should come into being through groundbreaking and cutting-edge technologies, innovation platforms that integrate industries, education, research and applications will be set up, and efforts to promote technology result commercialization and industrialization will be made.
The sci-tech achievement assessment system and incentive plans will be further completed to reward the commitment of scientists and researchers. The government will make industries more intelligent and sustainable, develop digital economy and artificial intelligence to upgrade traditional sectors.
The predominant role of enterprises in sci-tech innovation will be enhanced, and more leading sci-tech firms, as well as specialized and sophisticated small and medium-sized companies will be fostered.
