Tunghwa Wang, a 74-year-old entrepreneur, recently distinguished himself at the China Optics Valley 3551 International Entrepreneurship Competition with his intelligent heterogeneous system design project.

The competition, organized by the East Lake High-tech Development Zone, commonly known as Optics Valley of China (OVC), showcased Wang's innovative venture.

In 2019, Wang founded Terapines Technology (Wuhan) Co in the valley, assembling a team of seasoned professionals specializing in basic software development. The collaborative design and verification process, integrating software and hardware, generates a full-cycle accurate virtual model, compiler, and toolchain support for chip development.

This approach facilitates the rapid construction of architectures and iterative exploration in the virtual model, allowing for the identification of optimal chip performance by determining acceleration instructions and design schemes.

A graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology, Wang made entrepreneurial attempts three times in Silicon Valley, Chicago, and other locations in the United States.

Although born in Taiwan, Wang became acquainted with Wuhan when fulfilling his parents' wish to be buried in their hometown. "I hadn't been to Wuhan until I was 50, but I have always been quite sensitive to any Wuhan news," Wang remarked.

Wang commended the achievements of OVC, stating, "OVC focuses on developing IC and basic technology software. Wuhan, as the academic center of Central China, harbors numerous computing talents."

Five years ago, Wang initiated the formation of his own research team. "We hope to become a world-class basic science and technology research team and cultivate more top practical personnel," Wang added.
