The 2023 Optics Valley Marathon is scheduled to be held on Oct 28, hosted by the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC). It will be livestreamed by CCTV.

Ezhou, Huangshi and Huanggang will also participate in the game. The marathon track will pass through the Optics Valley Square and other OVC landmarks and will extend to the central areas of Wuhan New City, making Wuhan a major city to have multiple marathons like Beijing, Shanghai, and other first-tier cities.

More than 30,000 people from 18 countries and regions registered for the highly anticipated marathon, and about 70 percent of participants are from places outside Wuhan. About 44.4 percent come from the Wuhan-Ezhou-Huangshi-Huanggang region.

The average age of the marathon runners is 38, and 66.47 percent have bachelor's degrees or higher. The majority of them are Generation Y and Z. Many academicians and entrepreneurs will also make an appearance during the event.

Since marathon preparations were launched in June this year, the organizing committee has set up five guarantee systems in media publicity, security, transportation, environment and healthcare.
