Famous Russian skater and two-time world singles champion Evgenia Medvedeva visited the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC) on Oct 6.

Medvedeva, who has set nine world records, performed a skating show for young people in the valley, allowing them to appreciate figure skating up close.

After the show, Medvedeva gave tips to her fans and posed with them for group photos. "The figure skating training in the Optics Valley of China is great, the audience is nice, I love it here," said Medvedeva.

The 10-year-old Peng Yaxin is a huge fan of the skating queen. "I'm so happy to watch my idol's performance in the valley. She is so beautiful," she said. Peng hopes that she can be as good as her idol one day.

The visit was organized by a local club based in OVC with the goal of inspiring young skaters.
