"At present, many enterprises in the valley are expanding their production scales; some enterprises at the upstream or downstream of the industrial chain intended to settle in the valley do not know where to buy or rent industrial workshops. While on the other hand, these workshops' owners and industrial park operators cannot find appropriate clients," said a manager from a local sci-tech park management company at a standard workshop supply and demand matchmaking meeting in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC).
At the event, 40 enterprises raised specific demands for workshop construction, and five units released detailed information about their new high-quality standard workshops and supporting facilities, attracting representatives from over 100 companies and the online participation of some 1,000 firms.

"Building standard workshops can save more space and spur the industrial economy," said a valley's corporate service bureau staff member.
By 2025, OVC is expected to construct three million square meters of industrial workshops, and this year, the valley strives to build more than one million sq m of workshops for enterprises in need.
For this purpose, the government rolled out policies and detailed supporting measures to encourage standard workshops' building, renting, and selling activities. For example, standard workshop builders or renters meeting specific qualifications can gain a maximum of 5 million yuan ($695,000) of subsidies.
