The first phase of the Huanggang Science and Technology Industrial Park of Optics Valley will open and start operating within the month, according to local media reports.
Jointly built by Huanggang city in Central China's Hubei province and the East Lake High-tech Development Zone -- also known as Optics Valley of China and located in Wuhan, capital city of Hubei -- the new industrial park is regarded as an important platform for Wuhan and Huanggang to explore their integrated development.
With a planned area of 25 square kilometers and investment of 4 billion yuan ($626.8 million), its first phase has a public services center, a 2,000-square-meter stadium and apartments.
It also features a miniature version of the star river sculpture, which is a landmark at Optics Valley Square.
The first phase is designed to develop into a high-tech company incubation base -- with beautiful scenery, complete facilities and a great business environment -- in two to three years.
More than 10 projects have settled in the park, which will focus on industries including intelligent manufacturing, optoelectronics, new materials research incubations and modern services. After completion, the annual output value generated there is projected at 3 billion yuan.
According to officials, the park aims to become a leading area for the development of emerging industries in Huanggang city and also be a benchmark area for cooperative development in the Wuhan city circle.
