Optics Valley to offer 150,000-plus jobs for graduates in 2021

East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China) in Wuhan, the capital city of Central China's Hubei province, will provide no less than 150,000 high-quality jobs in 2021, according to a news conference held on Feb 5.

In 2020, 302,000 university and college students in Wuhan chose to stay in the city after graduation. Among them were 23,900 postgraduates and 165,400 undergraduates, accounting for 7.91 percent and 54.77 percent of the total, respectively. Those who are employed by companies accounted for 98.81 percent.

Boasting 13 industrial research institutes, 68 incubators, 108 co-creation spaces and an incubation area of 6 million square meters, Optics Valley of China currently has more than 10,000 employees with doctorates, more than 60,000 with master's degrees, and nearly 300,000 with bachelor's degrees. More than 10,000 overseas returnees and expats also work in the zone.

Optics Valley of China is now home to more than 140,000 market entities, including more than 100,000 companies. In 2020, they offered more than 154,000 quality jobs.

As an attractive location for talented professionals, the zone saw 26,900 university students settle down there in 2020.

In addition to providing no less than 150,000 high-quality jobs in 2021, Optics Valley of China will also continue to optimize the settlement process for university and college students and offer no less than 20,000 sq m of talent apartments for them, according to Song Zhiping, deputy director of the zone's management committee.
