Recently, a symposium on the development of special support policies for hardcore technology enterprises was held in East Lake High-tech Development Zone in Wuhan, capital city of Central China's Hubei province.

The event in the zone -- also known as Optics Valley of China -- attracted the participation of officials, university experts and principals from over 10 leading resident tech businesses.

At the symposium, Zhong Fuping, director of the zone's bureau of science and technology innovation and new economic development, briefed participants on the background and current progress of the policy drafting and called for their opinions on the spot.

According to Zhong, Optics valley will focus on the innovation and development of hardcore science and technology such as basic software, artificial intelligence and integrated circuits and it will also promote collaborative innovation in the tech industry.

He added that the zone is conducting intensive research and will soon issue policies to support the development of enterprises in related fields.

During the symposium, company representatives had discussions about the policy draft and with reference to their own development, gave their opinions and provided suggestions. Experts from Huazhong University of Science and Technology also put forward three important ideas.

The meeting was told that the zone would fully study opinions and suggestions of experts and companies and use them in drafting the new policies.

At the same time, a hardcore sci-tech development special fund of at least 100 million yuan ($15.3 million) is expected to be established every year to support tech companies. It will promote R&D and innovation, personnel training, as well as the development of industry clusters.
