The implementation of the Golden Cross industrial and environmental urban layout is continuing apace in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China) in Wuhan, the capital city of Central China's Hubei province.

The Golden Cross project, which consists of a sci-tech innovation corridor and ecological corridor, is regarded as a critical industrial and environmental development plan in Optics Valley.

High-tech Avenue is the main axis of the sci-tech innovation corridor, with a total length of 10.7 kilometers. The main thoroughfare is configured as a two-way, eight-lane roadway. On Oct 1, the first phase of the avenue was completed and opened to traffic.

The zone was currently seizing the opportunity to carry out the greening of the avenue.

The ecological corridor is 9.3 km long and is projected to be completed in May next year. At present, the construction and improvement of the waterway and greenway have been completed.

To date, the construction of three new main roads and a new functional area in Optics Valley is moving ahead. Optics Valley's urban space design -- for one main area, two sub-areas and four community areas -- has basically been formed.
