The China Medical Device Industry Summit and 2020 Sinopharm-CMDC Ecosystem Conference was held on Nov 27 in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone -- also known as Optics Valley of China -- located in Wuhan, capital city of Central China's Hubei province.

The event was co-hosted by Optics Valley and China National Medical Device Co Ltd (CMDC), which is affiliated to China National Pharmaceutical Group Co Ltd (Sinopharm).

It attracted the participation of over 1,400 people, including leaders and experts from over 40 medical institutions in China, as well as the main principals or senior executives of more than 600 leading domestic and foreign medical device manufacturers.

The summit had aims to help to build up Wuhan as a global medical and health industry hub, promote the high-quality development of China's medical devices industry and serve the new conditions and demand during the global novel coronavirus pandemic.

A number of industry experts, academicians and scholars gave speeches on the current situation and future development trends in China's medical devices industry.

The sector is a recognized high-tech industry and they said that Wuhan is deeply implementing the "health China" initiative, giving full play to its advantages in terms of strong scientific and educational capabilities, excellent location and transport, as well as abundant medical and health resources.

Wuhan is pushing to become a world-class industry cluster for biomedicines and medical devices and it has formed a "one city, one industry park and three zones" big health industry development configuration.

Moving forwards, Wuhan plans to make every effort to promote relevant product applications and promotions, as well as strengthen the development of the medical devices industry.

The city will fully support R&D and innovation and build innovative platforms, such as the national clinical medicine research center.

It will create an optimal industrial ecosystem, build a first-class domestic R&D and manufacturing base for high-end medical devices and provide a first-class business environment and excellent services for the investment and development of the medical devices industry in Wuhan.
