The Huangshi (Wuhan) offshore science and technology innovation center officially opened on Oct 20 in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone – also known as Optics Valley of China – in Wuhan, capital city of Central China's Hubei province
The new center will be synchronizing with the development of the Optics Valley sci-tech innovation corridor strategy and is also the first offshore sci-tech innovation center to be established in the province.
Focusing on the local economic development needs of Huangshi city, the innovation center is undertaking four major functions: sci-tech related investment promotions, industrial research, enterprise incubations and promotions.
It is aiming to develop Huangshi as a hub for the extension of the sci-tech industry chain, as well as for support facilities and overflow projects of the Optics Valley sci-tech innovation corridor.
With Optics Valley as its core area, the Optics Valley sci-tech innovation corridor strategy aims to promote the joint development of itself, Ezhou, Huangshi and Huanggang.
It aims to build a belt formed by the four cities into the core carrying area for China's innovation and development and the source of world-class original innovation.
At present, the four key development areas under planning and construction by Huangshi have been included in the unified planning and construction scope of Optics Valley's sci-tech innovation corridor.
Moving forwards, Huangshi will rely on the offshore sci-tech innovation center to establish an offshore sci-tech innovation park, to further expand its functions.
