A residential building with more than 700 apartments -- in the first phase of a much larger graduate housing project at Wuhan Future City in East Lake High-tech Development Zone in Wuhan -- is on track to completion.

The project's premier batch of residential buildings will be capped on Oct 28. The development zone -- also known as Optics Valley of China -- is located in Wuhan, capital city of Central China's Hubei province.

Over the next three years, 4,902 apartments will be constructed to encourage university and college graduates to work and stay in Wuhan.

The building area of all the residential buildings will be about 264,000 square meters, with individual apartments ranging in size from 35 to 150 sq m.

A commercial area and other facilities will occupy an additional 121,000 sq m in total.

The project has two phases, with 3,141 apartments to be delivered in June 2021 and the remaining 1,761 apartments in phase two ready for use in July 2023.

Cutting-edge technologies -- including 5G, the internet of things, cloud computing, big data and artificial intelligence -- will be utilized.

As a result, the development will be a benchmark for smart, long-term rental apartment communities -- encouraging more graduates to reside in Wuhan.

On completion, the development will be a large-scale and comprehensive community that integrates apartments, kindergartens, shops, hotels, maker spaces and related support facilities.
