East Lake High-tech Development Zone -- also known as Optics Valley of China and located in Wuhan city in Central China's Hubei province -- raised its profile during an event held in the national capital.

On Oct 15, it promoted itself at an event on high-quality employment driven by scientific and technological entrepreneurship, which was held by the Torch High Technology Industry Development Center at the Ministry of Science & Technology in Beijing.

The event was one of the activities of this year's national mass entrepreneurship and innovation week.

It focused on the achievements of science and technology innovation and entrepreneurship in promoting high-quality employment.

It exchanged views and experience on the positive roles -- played by colleges and universities, high-tech zones, incubation carriers and technology enterprises -- in promoting the employment of graduates during current conditions. More than 200 representatives of incubation carriers participated in the activity.

Chen Ping, director of the Optics Valley's management committee, gave a presentation about the zone through video.

According to Chen Ping, the zone has launched a series of targeted and high-value policies, which can support the entrepreneurial teams of college students in various ways, with a maximum subsidy of 3 million yuan ($448,800).

In terms of the guarantees for housing, graduates can rent apartments at a discount of 30 percent and buy affordable housing at a discount of 20 percent. At present, there are over 4,000 houses designated for graduates to rent.

Recently, the zone launched a series of online recruitment activities. Currently, there are 1,312 incubators, entrepreneurial service institutions and start-up enterprises resident there -- providing more than 10,000 jobs online -- and 1,102 college students have received expressions of interest from employers.

On the same day, the Hubei venue of the national entrepreneurship and innovation week opened in Wuhan.

Through 3D animations, virtual reality roaming, graphics and video, interactive designs and other functions, a panoramic intelligent cloud exhibition hall has been built, with 288 enterprises on display.
