Wuhan municipal department of culture and tourism reported on Oct 8 that nearly 19 million visits were made to attractions in Wuhan, capital of Central China's Hubei province, during the eight-day extended break.
The final tally was 18.82 million visits, representing 83.21 percent of the same period last year -- a solid performance, given limits imposed on the maximum number of tourists.
According to official data, the city generated comprehensive tourism income of about 9.22 billion yuan ($1.37 billion) during the break, recovering to 73.18 percent of the level reported last year.
Among the big attractions, the East Lake Scenic Area -- located in the city's East Lake High-tech Development Zone, which also known as Optics Valley of China -- did extremely well.
It received about 1.59 million tourists and generated comprehensive tourism income of 170 million yuan, respectively 91.86 percent and 93.92 percent of the same period of last year.
A nationwide travel boom during the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday had sent a clear signal that China was emerging from the impact of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
