The 13th China Bioindustry Convention is set to open on Sept 24 in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone, also known as Optics Valley of China -- located in Wuhan, capital city of Central China's Hubei province, according to a statement on Optics Valley's official website.

The convention will focus on the role of the bioindustry, as well as the latest developments and biotechnology in novel coronavirus pandemic control and prevention.

As the largest and leading convention in the field of China's bioindustry, with the strong support from all sectors of society, the convention has already been held 12 times.

Since 2018, the conference site has permanently settled in Wuhan and Guangzhou, alternating between the two cities.

The organizers of this year's convention have invited academicians and entrepreneurs in the field of the life and health industry in China to give special lectures on the strategic response, treatment and control strategies for the COVID-19 pandemic.

They have also been invited to give speeches on the development and application of technologies and products in such areas as detection, screening, vaccines, stem cells, etc. These will provide an authoritative interpretation of pandemic prevention and control methods and disseminate information about them.

At the same time, this year's conference has set up an online display platform for the achievements of advanced anti-pandemic technologies.

This aims to showcase the virus detection products and services, drugs and treatment technologies, medical equipment and special instruments -- as well as sterilization protection and medical support products and other pandemic prevention and control products -- in the form of short videos or pictures with text.

At a later stage, long-term online booths will be set up to continuously collect and display leading anti-pandemic products.

The conference, which will be held both online and offline and aimed at global audiences, will be a more targeted event with higher and wider participation.
