A total of 200 new graduates began work on Aug 18 at the Wuhan branch of tech group Xiaomi Corp -- in East Lake High-tech Development Zone, also known as Optics Valley of China -- according to officials from the zone, located in Wuhan, capital city of Central China's Hubei province.

Most of those who joined Xiaomi's Wuhan branch graduated from leading universities, with 50 percent holding a master's degree or above. This was also the first mass new employee induction ceremony held since Xiaomi's Wuhan branch started operation.

According to Optics Valley officials, in the first half of the year the pace of recruitment in the zone has not slowed down.

They said that during the period Optics Valley had closely observed novel coronavirus prevention and control measures, while pursuing economic and social development as a whole and successfully brought in 41,000 fresh graduates.

Since 2017, the zone has been building a recruitment platform for Xiaomi and other resident enterprises through special jobs fairs at colleges and universities and online job fairs -- providing convenient household registration processing and other invaluable services for all the newcomers.

At the same time, college graduates working for Xiaomi and other corporate residents in the zone can apply for admission to its exclusive graduate rental housing and rental subsidy programs.

According to a Xiaomi staff member, in the year to date, nearly 500 new employees have been hired -- both at campus and society recruitments -- part of them were recruited through the platform set up by the zone.
