A conference on comprehensive water environment treatment that was held on Aug 16 in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone -- also known as Optics Valley of China, located in Wuhan, capital city of Central China's Hubei province -- invited an expert team of five academicians and five industry experts to give their suggestions, local officials said.
They said that last September, the zone organized top water environment treatment industry and local scientific research institutions to compile the comprehensive water environment management plan.
This includes the six focal areas of drainage and waterlogging prevention, water environment management, comprehensive utilization of resources, water system connections, water ecological restoration, and smart water-related affairs.
It also proposes a series of treatment projects and objectives.
At the conference, according to zone officials, the expert group unanimously agreed that the plan successfully focuses on the top-level design for water environment treatment. They also said it has optimal programs for solid and feasible projects, which is of great significance for the construction of a beautiful Optics Valley suitable for living and business.
Academicians and experts in the expert group also provided some practical and pertinent opinions.
According to zone officials, in current new era, the core mission of the zone will not just be industrial development.
Making comprehensive water environment treatment a priority, the zone will promote the overall improvement of waterfront landscapes and provide the people living and working in Optics Valley with a better life and aesthetic experience.
