The Chinese National Academy of Arts (CNAA) places great emphasis on integrating artistic creation with theory and education. This approach uses artistic creation to inspire theoretical thinking and promote the education and cultivation of artistic talents.

Zhu Legeng, the honorary dean of the literature and art creation school at the CNAA, is a professor, doctoral supervisor and ceramic artist. The purpose of hosting Creating in Inheritance: Plastic Arts, Performance and Art Scene — Zhu Legeng Art Exhibition is to boost the creative transformation and innovative development of outstanding traditional Chinese culture.

Born into a family of ceramic artists in China's porcelain capital Jingdezhen, Jiangxi province, Zhu received excellent traditional ceramic training from a young age. He later entered higher education institutions where he received guidance from renowned mentors. Zhu has represented Chinese ceramic artists in numerous international ceramic events, and his innovative works, which embody Chinese characteristics, have brought international acclaim to Chinese ceramic artists.

For this exhibition, Zhu has explored new artistic forms based on tradition by incorporating the concept of the art scene. This exploration is conducted in collaboration with his art studio, literature and art creation school and related sister institutions, showcasing the interdisciplinary and comprehensive nature of his creative and research endeavors.

During the exhibition, three series of academic seminars are being hosted, inviting scholars from related academic institutions and art schools. These seminars delve into the spirit of the symposium on cultural inheritance and development, exploring the creative transformation and innovative development of outstanding traditional Chinese culture and contributing to the construction of modern Chinese civilization.

The CNAA, directly under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, is a national-level art research institution and one of the first units authorized by the State Council to grant doctoral and master's degrees.

Since the reform and opening-up, the academy has gradually developed a five-in-one structure encompassing art research, art education, artistic creation, art think tanks, and intangible cultural heritage protection. It aims to establish itself as a first-class national and internationally renowned center for art research, education and exchange.
