The Committee on Proposals of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held on June 4 a consultation meeting in Beijing on the handling of a key proposal on forward-looking planning of future industries.

At the meeting, some CPPCC National Committee members who put forward the proposal — Qu Yongyi, Qiao Hong, Quan Zhongguang, Ming Dong, Huang Baorong and Huang Qunhui — together with relevant officials from the Central Committee of the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party, delivered speeches while outlining the background of the proposal and their recommendations.

Participants suggested that the development of future industries should be aligned with the key priorities in the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–30) period and drive the deep integration of scientific and technological innovation with industrial innovation. They called for giving full play to the pivotal role of enterprises in future industries, channeling all types of innovation resources toward enterprises and stimulating their vitality for innovation and creation. They further suggested establishing mechanisms for investment growth and risk-sharing in future industries and exploring inclusive and prudent regulatory models so as to create a sound policy environment.

Officials from the departments designated to handle the proposal, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, briefed those at the meeting on progress in proposal handling and related ongoing work. Proposers and handling departments then engaged in in-depth consultation and exchanges on such topics as strengthening basic research, talent cultivation and improving governance systems.

Liu Jiayi, chairman of the Committee on Proposals, chaired and addressed the meeting. Also present were its vice-chairpersons Gao Hongjun and Su Guiguang, along with a number of CPPCC National Committee members.
