The National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held a popular science lecture at China Agricultural University on April 27. It was one of the events of the Members' Science Forum, the CPPCC National Committee's science lecture program to promote scientific knowledge among the public.

Vice-chairmen of the CPPCC National Committee Jiang Zuojun, Zhu Yongxin and Yang Zhen attended the event.

Li Jiayang, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered a lecture titled "Strengthening the Foundation of Food Security: Inheritance, Innovation, and Prospects of Seed Technology." He elaborated on the importance of seeds and the seed industry, the development of breeding technologies, China's achievements in breeding research and the challenges and prospects of scientific breeding. Li also engaged in interactive discussions with the audience. More than 400 people attended the lecture, including CPPCC National Committee members and scientific researchers, as well as university teachers and students.
