CAPD Central Committee holds press briefing on preparations for two sessions

The Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy (CAPD) held on Feb 27 a press briefing on preparations for the upcoming annual sessions of the National People's Congress and the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Wang Gang, vice-chairman of the CAPD Central Committee, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

Wang spoke about the CAPD Central Committee’s performance in fulfilling its duties in 2025 and its key tasks for 2026. Noting that 2026 marks the beginning of the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30), he said that the CAPD will continue to strengthen self-development and conscientiously perform its duties. He welcomed journalists to delve deeper into the highlights of the CAPD’s work and share more cooperation stories, so as to foster a favorable social atmosphere for public opinion and consolidate broader social consensus.

The briefing focused on the handling of and responses to proposals submitted by the CAPD Central Committee during last year’s two sessions, the main practices in proposal work, and preparations for the proposals to be made during the 2026 two sessions. The CAPD Central Committee received 567 draft proposals this year and plans to submit 74 proposals, according to CAPD officials.
