CNNC showcases innovative achievements at the 2026 World Robot Conference

On August 19, the 2026 World Robot Conference opened in Beijing. China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) unveiled a panoramic application scenario focused on maintenance and repair operations in power generation, along with five innovative nuclear industry robots and equipment, showcasing its strong capabilities in intelligent and specialized robotic technologies for the nuclear industry.

The exhibits were presented in two areas: "Full-Chain Layout" and "Panoramic Application".

In the "Panoramic Application" area, CNNC's exhibition focused on maintenance and repair operations in power generation, covering nuclear, hydropower, wind power, and photovoltaic applications. Among the highlights was an underwater floating inspection robot independently developed by China Nuclear Power Operation Technology Corp Ltd (CNPO), a subsidiary of CNNC. It fills a gap in China's high-radiation underwater precision-operation equipment. It has been successfully deployed at major domestic nuclear power plants, including Qinshan, Sanmen, and Tianwan.

The steam generator maintenance and positioning robot combines non-destructive testing with specialized repair capabilities, supporting the safe and stable operation of nuclear equipment.

In the "Full-Chain Layout" area, CNNC showcased a full range of technologies and equipment, from radiation-resistant robotic arm joint modules to representative visual AI products such as high-precision underwater 3D scanners, and fully assembled radiation-resistant special robotic arms.

The core self-developed components of the radiation-resistant joint module — the radiation-resistant driver and encoder — have resolved the bottleneck issue affecting key robotic components in high-radiation environments, thereby filling a gap in this field in China.

The high-precision underwater 3D scanner uses a self-developed rotating galvanometer-based monocular line-laser scanning system. It can automatically generate digital inspection reports without requiring personnel to enter the water, resolving the long-standing issue of reliance on imported equipment for precision underwater 3D measurement.

Designed specifically for nuclear industry applications, the radiation-resistant six-axis robotic arm can replace manual operations in high-radiation environments, carrying out tasks such as equipment maintenance and material handling to safeguard the safe operation of nuclear power plants.
