Inaugural program under China-Singapore tripartite training cooperation launched in Nanning

An opening ceremony for the Seminar on ASEAN Energy Transition and Development was held on Aug 17 in Nanning, the capital of the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

The seminar was hosted by the governments of China and Singapore and undertaken by Guangxi International Business Vocational College and Singapore Management University.

Meng Ran, deputy director-general of the International Cooperation Department of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), delivered a speech via video link. Twenty government officials from ASEAN member states, including Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, participated in the event.

The 10-day seminar featured in-depth exchanges between participants and Chinese and Singaporean experts, with topics covering energy transition, renewable energy development, ASEAN power grid construction, cross-border power trading, energy governance, and green investment and financing. Participants also engaged in field visits to gain insights from relevant technological and industrial practices.

Last year, witnessed by the premiers of China and Singapore, the CIDCA and Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs signed a letter of intent and a memorandum of understanding on jointly conducting tripartite training cooperation.

The seminar marked the materialization of the China-Singapore tripartite training cooperation. It also served as a new cooperation platform for the two countries to support capacity building in ASEAN nations and promote regional development.
