On Aug 18, emergency humanitarian earthquake relief supplies provided by the Chinese government arrived at El Dorado International Airport in Bogota, the capital of Colombia.
Chinese Ambassador to Colombia Zhu Jingyang, together with representatives from the Colombian government, attended the handover ceremony for the relief supplies.

Zhu noted that following the powerful earthquake that struck Colombia on Aug 10, the Chinese government swiftly provided the country with emergency cash assistance as well as humanitarian earthquake relief supplies.
He stated that the Chinese assistance fully reflects the spirit of the two peoples standing together in adversity and supporting one another through hard times.
He expressed confidence that under the leadership of the Colombian government, people in the earthquake‑hit areas will overcome the disaster and rebuild their homes at an early date.

The Colombian side expressed sincere gratitude for China's swift response and valuable support, stating that it will always cherish the friendship extended by the Chinese people.
Weighing approximately 80 metric tons in total, the supplies include tents, blankets, power generators, solar-powered lighting equipment and water purification facilities. They will support Colombia's disaster relief operations and post-disaster reconstruction.
