Chinese emergency food aid handed over to Guinea

A handover ceremony for China's emergency food aid to Guinea was held on July 18. Chinese Ambassador to Guinea Sun Yong and Ismael Nabe, Guinea's minister of planning, development and international cooperation, attended the event and signed the handover certificate.

Sun said that the food aid is a practical measure to implement the consensus reached by the heads of state of China and Guinea and also an important outcome of cooperation under the China-Africa ten partnership initiatives, all in order to help Guinea overcome its food security challenges.

Sun said that China is ready to strengthen communication with Guinea in the future and deepen agricultural cooperation under the philosophy of "teaching people to fish", so as to support Guinea in achieving food self-sufficiency.

On behalf of Guinean President Mamady Doumbouya and Prime Minister Amadou Oury Bah, Nabe expressed the nation´s sincere gratitude to China, saying that the aid fully embodies China's humanitarian spirit and the profound friendship between the two countries.

He said that Guinea is ready to strengthen cooperation with China to improve its people's livelihoods. He promised to ensure the transparent and impartial distribution of the food aid, so that those most in need can benefit from China's assistance.
