China-Sierra Leone Nursing Training Center Unveiled to Boost Bilateral Health Cooperation

On July 3, the China-Sierra Leone Nursing Training Center, led by the 27th China Medical Team to Sierra Leone, was officially inaugurated at the China-Sierra Leone Friendship Hospital in Freetown. Wang Peng, Counselor in charge of commercial and economic cooperation of the Chinese embassy, senior officials of the Sierra Leone Ministry of Health including the Permanent Secretary and Chief Medical Officer, members of the 27th China Medical Team to Sierra Leone, as well as medical staff representatives from the China-Sierra Leone Friendship Hospital attended the ceremony.

Counselor Wang Peng stated that the inauguration of the nursing training center constitutes an important initiative to deepen practical health cooperation between China and Sierra Leone under the framework of the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges. Upholding the philosophy of "teaching people how to fish", China will make efforts to improve the quality of nursing services and build a health bridge linking the hearts and minds of the Chinese and Sierra Leonean peoples.

The Sierra Leone side expressed sincere gratitude to China for its long-standing medical assistance. It looks forward to fully sharing China's high-quality medical resources, advanced nursing technologies and mature management experience through the Nursing Training Center, so as to continuously consolidate and deepen bilateral health cooperation.

The China-Sierra Leone Nursing Training Center aims to continuously improve local nursing standards by establishing a standardized training system, create a replicable model for nursing assistance to African countries, and support the long-term and sustainable development of China-Sierra Leone health cooperation.
