On May 13, the Plaque-Unveiling Ceremony for Schistosomiasis Monitoring Sites and Microscope Donation Ceremony under the China-Aided Schistosomiasis Control Technical Assistance Project in Zanzibar was held on Pemba Island, Zanzibar. The event was attended by more than 100 participants, including Li Qianghua, Consul General of China in Zanzibar; Rashid Hadidi Rashid, Regional Commissioner of South Pemba; Amour Mohamed, Director General of the Ministry of Health of Zanzibar; and members of the China-aided schistosomiasis control project team.

Consul General Li Qianghua stated that the traditional friendship between China and Tanzania has a long history, and healthcare cooperation has always been an important component of pragmatic cooperation between the two sides. He noted that the China-Aided Schistosomiasis Control Technical Assistance Project in Zanzibar has achieved remarkable results on Pemba Island. This plaque-unveiling for monitoring sites and donation of microscopes are significant measures by China to support Zanzibar in enhancing its disease monitoring and diagnosis capabilities, as well as improving its primary public health system.

Rashid stated that the Chinese expert team has made outstanding contributions to local schistosomiasis prevention and control, further deepening the friendship between China and Zanzibar.
