Chinese ambassador attends handover ceremony for 2nd phase of coaching assistance to Uruguay

On April 29, Chinese Ambassador to Uruguay Huang Yazhong attended the handover ceremony for the second phase of China’s sports coaching assistance to Uruguay. The event was also attended by Uruguayan National Sports Secretary Alejandro Pereda, Executive Director of the Uruguayan Agency for International Cooperation Martin Clavijo, and Counselor Jiang Minghui from the Chinese embassy.

In his speech, Huang expressed congratulations over the successful completion of the program, through which over 500 young Uruguayan athletes trained in China. He emphasized that sports cooperation is a strong manifestation of the friendly cooperation between China and Uruguay, a vivid example of the mutual trust, mutual benefit and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, and a solid effort to implement the five programs for cooperation between China and Latin American and Caribbean countries.

Huang stressed that China is willing to take this opportunity to continue to enrich the content of the China-Uruguay comprehensive strategic partnership.

Pereda and Clavijo said that it is an honor and matter of pride for Uruguay to engage in sports cooperation with China. According to them, Uruguayan athletes who participated in the training have achieved unprecedented success in international competitions, and sports exchanges are a crucial part of the friendship between the two countries.

They emphasized that Uruguay will continue to deepen sports cooperation with China, as part of their efforts to enhance the friendly relations between the two sides.
