SFBS-2026 held in Bordeaux, France
Updated: 2026-10-31
From Oct 14 to 21, the 4th Sino-French BioImaging Symposium (SFBS-2026) was held at the University of Bordeaux. Supported by the Sino-French International Research Network BioImage, the symposium was co-organized by institutions such as the Interdisciplinary Institute for Neuroscience in France, France-BioImaging, the National Biomedical Imaging Center of Peking University, and the Biophysical Society of China (BSC), attracting 150 experts, scholars, young researchers, and industry representatives from China, France, and other European countries.

During a senior workshop on super-resolution imaging held from Oct 14 to 16, 25 doctoral and postdoctoral students learned about the principles of super-resolution imaging, experimental design, instrumentation, and data processing. The courses, co-taught by Sino-French instructors, covered techniques including STED, single-molecule localization microscopy, structured illumination microscopy, and expansion microscopy, helping participants understand the applicable conditions of different methods.

As a co-organizer, BSC announced relevant notices through official media channels in advance and introduced support policies for Chinese participants, providing them with opportunities for international exchange and training.

From Oct 19 to 21, an international scientific seminar was held, focusing on super-resolution microscopy, advanced optical and physical methods, quantitative biology, and computational analysis. Its specific topics covered MINFLUX, 4Pi super-resolution, and AI-assisted image reconstruction, emphasizing how imaging methods can aid in deciphering the structure and dynamic processes of life and offering participants ample opportunities to explore methodological principles and biological applications.
During industrial exchange, bio-companies from China showcased their independently developed imaging technologies and products. They also discussed technical features, application needs, and potential cooperation with international researchers, establishing connections between the development of imaging instruments and their applications.

The symposium provided a platform for Sino-French researchers to exchange ideas in method development, research applications, and talent cultivation. The Biomedical Imaging Branch of BSC will continue to support international academic exchanges, nurture young researchers with global vision, and promote cooperation among research teams, users, and the whole industry.
