Speaking at the event, BSC Vice-President and Secretary-General Zhang Hong said that the launch of the sci-tech innovation center marks the first time for the society to cooperate with an enterprise and local science association to build a platform for technological innovation and development.

The center aims to promote popular science and improve the scientific literacy among the general public. It will be operated under a collaborative mechanism, leveraging high-level research resources and experts to fuel local socioeconomic growth.

Furthermore, the establishment of the Caenorhabditis elegans popular science education base, jointly built with SunyBiotech, represents the society’s first exploration of its kind. As China's first nematode-themed popular science education base, it will support model animal-relative science popularization activities.

Following the signing ceremony, Zhang delivered a lecture titled The Molecular Mechanism of Autophagy in Multicellular Organisms and Its Relationship with Abnormalities and Diseases, which was attended by over 130 students, teachers and researchers.

This event marks the inaugural activity of the 2024 biomedical experts’ tour of Fuzhou, hosted by the Fujian Association for Science and Technology and organized by the BSC, Fujian Normal University College of Life Science, Fuzhou Association for Science and Technology, Fuzhou’s Taijiang district and SunyBiotech.
