Team led by BSC expert receives Dalton Division Horizon Prize

The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) announced the winners of its annual academic prizes on June 13.

Among the recipients is the High-Performance Nanozyme Designer team, led by Wei Hui, secretary-general of the Nano-enzyme Academic Subgroup of the Biophysical Society of China (BSC) and a professor at Nanjing University. The team has been honored with this year's Dalton Division Horizon Prize.

Wei’s team was recognized for the development of rational design strategies for high-performance nanozymes and exploration of their biomedical applications.

Expressing his delight at receiving the prize and acknowledging the collaborative nature of their research, Wei emphasized the importance of cooperation and interdisciplinary collaboration. He expressed gratitude to his team members and collaborators, recognizing that their combined efforts and exchange of ideas have enabled them to achieve innovative research outcomes.

Besides Nanjing University, the team also consists of researchers from Wuhan University, the University of Science and Technology of China, the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology, the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Jiangxi Normal University, the University of South China, Central China Normal University, China Pharmaceutical University and Fudan University.

The RSC Horizon prizes are designed to recognize groundbreaking, innovative, and transformative achievements in the field of chemical sciences through teamwork and international collaboration. They are typically awarded to research teams that have pioneered new directions or created new possibilities in their respective areas of study.
