Sci-tech services on sports and medicine integration launched

The Innovation China sports and medicine integration sci-tech service group held a meeting in Beijing on June 30. They kicked off a new model of active and scientific exercises for professionals.

Under the guidance of the China Association for Science and Technology, the meeting was hosted by the Biophysical Society of China (BSC) and undertaken by the Sports Medicine Academic Subgroup as well as Chinese tech heavyweight Lenovo Group.

Based on the needs of Lenovo, a company headquartered in the Beijing Zhongguancun Software Park, experts conducted in-depth discussions on sports science and clinical medical technologies to build a high-quality health service integration model. The Zhongguancun Software Park is involved in the Innovation China initiative.

With the theme “promoting sci-tech achievement transformation and serving sci-tech innovation and entrepreneurship”, the meeting aimed to help Lenovo create health monitoring equipment and market its chronic disease management service platform.

The event drew the attendance of officials from renowned sci-tech communities and companies in China, including Zhang Hong, vice-president and secretary-general of the BSC.

Fan Yuchan, project expert of Innovation China sports and medicine integration sci-tech service group and secretary-general of the BSC Sports Medicine Academic Subgroup, briefed about the working mechanism of the group.

Fan said experts of the group will conduct visits in key cities and parks involved in the Innovation China initiative and hold seminars on enterprises’ actual needs and match them with Lenovo's health management service platform.

Guo Jianjun, head of the sci-tech service group and director of the Sports Medicine Integration Innovation Center at the Capital University of Physical Education and Sports (CUPES), gave an online report on the general knowledge of scientific exercises for people in the workplace.

Guo said that the fast-paced lifestyle has made more workers realize the benefits of sports in health. It has become an inevitable trend to develop personalized and scientific exercises for sport behavior management in the workplace.

To carry out the new mode of active and healthy exercises in a scientific way is one of the key tasks of the service group, Guo added.

Wang Zhichao, a core expert at the service group and director of the external cooperation department at Beijing Haidian Hospital, spoke on the benefits of scientific and effective exercises for people with chronic diseases.

“We need to design effective and personalized exercise programs for such patients and from a disease management and health service mode that integrates sports and medicine,” he said.

Lyu Xiao, director of the medical and health program department at Lenovo China, explained the pilot model of the service group, which aims to build a standardized health management service mechanism and products including health evaluation, monitoring, exercise and nutritional meals.

Since the BSC joined the Innovation China sci-tech service group in 2020, it has mobilized sports and medical workers and strived to develop a new industrial model of exercise-medicine integration.
