Updated: 2023-05-16

On May 13 at 7:30 am, a half marathon kicked off at Tongming Lake in Beijing E-Town.

Awards were presented to the three fastest runners.

Along the shore of Tongming Lake, 8,000 participants felt the beauty of science, ecology, and culture in Beijing E-Town as they raced against each other.

The event consisted of a half marathon and a fun run.

The half marathon covered a stretch of 21.0975 kilometers, passing through Tongming Lake, JD, BOE, Paulownia Avenue, and Beijing Smart Convergence Media Innovation Center.

The fun run followed a route around the National Information Technology Application Innovation Park and Tongming Lake, with a total distance of 5 kilometers.

After intense competition, Samuel Kalalei from Kenya won the men's championship in the half marathon with a time of 1 hour, 5 minutes, and 51 seconds, while Naomi Kakokolimamurei, also from Kenya, claimed the women's championship with a time of 1 hour, 15 minutes, and 54 seconds.

As the first technology-themed half marathon in China, the 2023 Beijing E-Town Tongming Lake Half Marathon focused on technology, as well as digital and information management of the event.

Technologies such as event information network management, electronic race kits, and facial recognition were applied. The event also created more application scenarios for autonomous driving technology and new generation information technology, enhancing public awareness of cutting-edge technologies.

Additionally, the event invited Olympic and world champions to help promote the development of cultural and sports industries here.

In addition to the sports competitions, the event also featured a carnival with four major themes: automobiles, technology, lifestyle, and health. It aimed to create a new landmark for sports trends in Beijing E-Town and establish a new scene of "marathon + consumption."

The 2023 Beijing E-Town Tongming Lake Half Marathon, with the theme "Digital China, Technology Beijing E-Town," was organized by the Beijing E-Town Administrative Committee, and co-sponsored by the Social Affairs Bureau of Beijing E-Town, the New Generation Information Technology Industry Special Task Force of Beijing E-Town and other organizations.
