Visit museums for free during 1st museum month

Starting from now until June 2, citizens who love visiting museums are in good luck! The first Beijing Museum Activity Month will feature 300 key exhibitions and distribute 10,000 free tickets every day. Follow this guide to plan your trip!

The two participating museums in Beijing E-Town include the Tianyou Lanting Calligraphy Culture Museum and the Beijing Nanhaizi Milu Park Museum.

To obtain free tickets, you may enter the "Beijing Museum Cloud" mini program on WeChat and click on the "Ten Thousand Tickets" section. From now until May 31, you can apply for tickets within three days at 10:00, 14:00, and 18:00 every day.

Seventeen museums, including the National Museum of China, the China Railway Museum, and the Lao She Memorial Hall, will extend their hours to 19:30 on each open day this month. And 15 agricultural and film museums will try to open with extended hours during holidays and weekends.

The following temporary exhibitions showcase excellent exhibits from Beijing and abroad:

"Honoring 1953" Craft Art Exhibition features exhibits from the first National Folk Art and Craft Exhibition held in 1953. This exhibition tells the story of the development of China's arts and crafts industry. From early May to the end of August, you can visit the exhibition at the Tsinghua University Art Museum.

"Film and Shadow in Life" Shaanxi Intangible Cultural Heritage Shadow Puppet Exhibition shows 200 exhibits. This exhibition tells the story of the discovery and inheritance of Shaanxi shadow puppetry. From early May to the end of June, the exhibition is available at the China National Arts and Crafts Museum.

With 180 sets of costumes from 33 ethnic regions, "Colorful Attire" - Chinese Women's Ethnic Costumes showcases the clothing culture created by women of various ethnic groups. From early May to early October, the exhibition is open at the Chinese Garden Museum.

"Like Fragrant Hills" - Gandhara Art Exhibition can be viewed from early May to mid-June, at the Wenhua Hall of the Palace Museum. Gandhara was an important hub on the Silk Road, where cultural and religious exchanges forged a colorful civilization. 

"Exactly the Same" exhibition welcomes visitors from early May to the end of June, at the Zhoukoudian Site Museum. Featuring 109 cake and biscuit molds from the Jilin Provincial Museum, this exhibition tells the story of food culture.
